Lexapro

Lexapro Dosage

You can buy Lexapro from our online pharmacy. Before taking Lexapro please read the prescription carefully.

The dose of Lexapro will vary depending on a number of factors:

  • Your age,
  • The medical condition you are being treated for,
  • Other medical conditions you may have,
  • Other medications you may be currently taking.

Do not change your Lexapro dose if your doctor didn't specifically tell you to do so.

The recommended dosage of Lexapro for the beginning is 10 mg once a day. Your doctor may choose to increase the dosage of Lexapro if your symptoms continue or decrease the dose if unwanted effects occur. In general, people take Lexapro for several months or longer.

Dosages of Lexapro can range from 10 mg to 20 mg a day. For elderly people or people with liver problems, the maximum dosage of Lexapro is 10 mg once a day.

Consider the following while taking Lexapro:

  • It usually takes several weeks (and maybe even longer than a month) to feel the positive effects of Lexapro. Please don't be discouraged if Lexapro does not work fast for you.
  • If Lexapro makes you sleepy, try taking it before going to bed. If Lexapro causes insomnia, try to take it early in the morning.
  • Lexapro can be taken with or without food. If Lexapro upsets your stomach, try to take it with food.
  • Lexapro should be taken at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the drug in your blood.
  • For Lexapro to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Lexapro medication will not work well if you take it in a way other than how your healthcare provider prescribed it.

If you are unsure about your dosage or Lexapro, please talk with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not stop taking Lexapro without discussing it with your healthcare provider.

If you notice weight gain with Lexapro, there are some suggestions for you:

  • Eat more fruits, vegetables, grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products
  • Eat fish, lean meats, poultry, beans, eggs, and nuts
  • Limit foods with saturated fats, cholesterol, salt and added sugar
  • Participate in regular physical activity
  • Limit your alcohol intake.

Weight loss occurs in less than 1 percent of people taking the drug. In previous clinical studies, weight loss occurred just as frequently in people who were not taking Lexapro, so, it is difficult to determine whether weight loss was actually caused by the medicine, or another medical condition, or a change in eating habits and physical activity etc. If you are experiencing weight loss problems, talk with your healthcare provider.
